You can’t go wrong with mango dessert, at least not this mango galette. This galette is super easy to make. A short cut recipe that’s design for everyone with no baking skill needed.

WHAT IS GALETTE

In case you don’t know what’s Galette is, it is a type of French pastry that made with freeform crusty pie that either fills with sweet or savory filling. It usually made with buckwheat flour in a round pastry wrapped. Hence, no baking pan nor any special baking tools are required. Galette with sweet filling is often tops with fruits and custard.

Using puff pastry for baking is so convenient. I love it as it is easy and quick to whip up a delicious meal without have to spend much time in the kitchen. Having saying that, my puff pastry recipes that I made so far are all savoury! I am eager to try a dessert recipe using puff pastry to satisfy my sweet tooth. And that’s when I came across at DEVAMADEO blog about this mango dessert and I thought I should give it a try but with a simplify version.

This puff pastry mango galette is flaky and crisp, tops with sweet and juicy mango with creamy cream cheese then finish off with some crunchy pistachio and icing sugar. Although it is not a super fancy dessert, it would surely pleased the crowd with it delicious and beautiful taste. This mango galette ticks all the box!!!

INGREDIENTS TO MAKE PUFF PASTRY MANGO GALETTE

Fresh whole mangoes

Cream cheese

Sugar

Pistachio

Frozen puff pastry

Icing sugar for dusting (optional)

Egg wash

HOW TO MAKE PUFF PASTRY MANGO GALETTE

Preheat oven to 180°C, line baking paper on baking tray. Thaw frozen puff pastry on top of the baking tray lined with baking paper until it is soft but still cold to manage.

Peel mangoes skin and cut mangoes into thin slices, about 2 cups. Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, cream room temperature cream cheese with half sugar for 5 minutes or until sugar is fully incorporate and cream cheese mixture is light and fluffy.

Trim 4 edges of the pastry sheets to get a circle, no need to be perfect. Evenly spread whipped cream cheese mixture across 2 pastry sheets. Dip mango slices into the bowl with the remaining sugar. Place it over the cream cheese around the circle or clockwise. Leave a gap of an inch all around the edge. Repeat for the second pastry sheet until you used up all the mangoes.

Fold the rim up over the fruit slightly cover the mangoes.

Brush the pastry and mangoes with egg wash. To make egg wash, whisk an egg + 1 tbsp water.

Bake at the preheated oven at 180°C for 35 minutes or until pastry is golden brown.

Remove from oven and transfer to a cooling rack to cool down slightly. Sprinkle with chopped pistachio and dust with icing sugar (optional). Cut in slice and serve on it own or with your favourite ice cream. Enjoy!

– 1/2 cup sugar
– 2 tbsp chopped pistachip
– 2 frozen puff pastry
– 1 egg + 1 tbsp water for egg wash
– icing sugar for dusting (optional)
